Celebrating the Women of Frankston
Join us as we celebrate and recognise the incredible women who contribute to the heart and strength of the Frankston community. This special event welcomes all members of our community, creating an inclusive space to connect, be inspired, and enjoy an uplifting afternoon together.
We are proud to present our guest speakers, Dayna Smith and Sophie Jackson, who will share their stories, experiences, and insights on leadership, resilience, and community impact.
Dayna Smith
Dayna Smith has been playing football for more than 16 years, beginning her journey playing with the boys as a junior before progressing to the VFLW with the Southern Saints from their inaugural season in 2018 through to 2022. She later joined the Casey Demons, competing from 2023–2024.
Today, Dayna proudly represents Frankston Football Club’s senior women’s team, where she values the connection, camaraderie, and joy that local football brings.
Having experienced firsthand the challenges women face in accessing the sport — including missing a season when she was no longer able to play with the boys and a junior girls’ competition didn’t yet exist — Dayna has witnessed the remarkable growth of women’s football. She is grateful for the opportunities the game has given her and is enjoying being back playing within the Frankston community.
Sophie Jackson
Sophie Jackson represents Australia in sailing, competing in the international 470 dinghy class. She is a member of the Australian Sailing Futures Team, a scholarship holder at the Western Australian Institute of Sport, and is striving toward her goal of becoming an Olympic champion.
On the water, Sophie’s achievements include being a re‑aero5 World Champion, as well as an Oceania and Australian Champion in the Olympic 470 class. Off the water, she holds a Bachelor degree in Secondary Health, Physical Education, and Outdoor Education, serves as an ambassador for the AIS Mental Fitness Program, and coaches the next generation of young sailors.
