About

About Swindon Supermarine.

Swindon Supermarine Football Club, formed in 1992 from the merger of Supermarine F.C. and Swindon Athletic F.C., quickly established itself as a formidable force in non-league football. The club secured its first Hellenic League championship in 1997–98, a testament to their immediate strength. This success was replicated in 2000–01, leading to their acceptance into the Southern League, marking a significant step forward in their progression. After a period of development, the club achieved back-to-back promotion play-off appearances in 2005–06 and 2006–07. The latter season proved triumphant, with victories over Burnham and Taunton Town securing a coveted spot in the Southern League Premier Division. This successful season also saw them claim the Wiltshire Premier Shield, demonstrating their prowess in cup competitions.

Swindon Supermarine's inaugural season in the Southern League Premier Division saw a solid 12th-place finish, followed by another mid-table position in 2008–09. This period also included an excellent run in the FA Trophy, reaching the Third Round (last sixteen). Despite facing financial challenges, a dedicated supporters' consortium and successful sponsorship drive, including the naming of their home as the Webbswood Stadium, ensured the club's continued presence in the Southern League Premier Division. The 2010–11 season brought their best-ever FA Cup run, narrowly missing a lucrative Third Round tie against League One Colchester United. In 2018, under manager Lee Spalding, the club demonstrated remarkable resilience, navigating a challenging play-off campaign that included a penalty shootout victory against Evesham United and another against Wimborne Town, ultimately securing a well-deserved promotion back to Step 3 and the Southern League Premier South Division.
