About Rowville Football Club.
The Rowville Football Club was founded in October 1964 after a meeting held at the Captains Cabin, Stamford Hotel. On March 27, 1965, Mr. Mark Walker presented the clubs colours at a 'Barbecue and Dance' function held at the Sunray Club (adjacent to Heany Park). Mr. Mark Walker donated 20 guernseys and socks, in the design of the VFL team of whose recruiting zone included Rowville. Our first game was against Mt Evelyn and was held on April 24, 1965. Playing in the 3rd Division of the E.D.F.L., the club fielded only one team in 1965, with Laurie Appleton appointed Coach and Captain. With the team finishing 6th on the ladder, Laurie also won the League Best and Fairest award that year.
