NBL1 Round 7 Rivalry game as the Norwood Flames host the North Adelaide Rockets.
In a local rivals derby, the Rockets come to the Arc to battle the Flames.
For North's Women, coming off a Grand Final appearance after a great finals run in 2021, they will be a tough opponent.
Having a rough start with one win from their first five, the Rockets Women will be looking to get a win to build some momentum.
For the Norwood Women, getting 2 wins from this weekend will be crucial for getting their season back on track.
Peyton Taylor has been the main weapon for North, putting up 18.5ppg and 9 rebounds per game. She played NCAA Divison 1 for the MSU Denver Roadrunners. The Roadrunners have a famous connection with Australians over the years. Taylor is an American, coming the over way over the pond. A key match-up to watch will be Taylor Vs Alek Auken
Defrancesco is another player who is scoring well, at 14 points per game. Rayven Thomas, the 2nd North import, has put up 6.8ppg and 7.8rpg.
Simiarly in the Men, the Rockets were the 2021 Champions and our Men will be looking to exact revenge at the Arc.
Both teams have gone under significant changes, with North most notably losing Jack McVeigh, Sunday Dech and Tobias Dowdell.
But it hasn't slowed them down, as they sit top of the table, undefeated in 5 games.
North have brought in imports Terry Winn (16ppg & 9.8rpg) and Jamar Akoh (13.4ppg and 8rpg). Winn is a wing and has had a good start to life in NBL1 Central. Akoh is a big man with solid post moves and a great motor.
With Coach Tim Odell now at the helm, it will be interesting to see the different tactics and styles at play against a well-coached Dean Nyberg team.
Matt Lycett, Daniel Webber and Andrew Webber will be looking to battle old foes, as some of the longest serving members in the Norwood-North rivalry.
In the 2nd of a back to back weekend, this one looms as a big game for the Norwood Men.
Game times, Sunday May 22nd.
