About Frome Town FC.
Frome Town Football Club, founded in 1904, quickly established a winning tradition, securing the Somerset Senior League Championship in 1906–07, 1908–09, and 1910–11, alongside the Wiltshire League Championship in 1909–10. Their early success culminated in a notable debut in the FA Cup during the 1911–12 season, where they reached the fifth qualifying round. Joining the Western League in 1919–20, they immediately triumphed by winning Division Two in their inaugural attempt. The club also celebrated success in the Somerset Senior FA Cup, lifting the trophy in the 1932–33 and 1933–34 seasons.
Post-World War II, Frome Town continued their journey, reaching the first round of the FA Cup in the 1954–55 season, where they played against Football League side Leyton Orient in front of a record crowd of 8,000. In the same season, they earned promotion to Division One as runners-up in Division Two. The club enjoyed a significant 32-season tenure in the top division of the Western League, becoming champions in the 1978–79 season. They also garnered considerable cup success during this period, winning the Somerset Premier Cup three times (1966–67, 1968–69, 1982–83), the Western League Cup twice, and the Western Counties Floodlit Cup once. Following a league restructuring, they splendidly became Division One champions in 2001–02, earning promotion back to the Premier Division. The 2008–09 season was particularly fruitful, as they finished as runners-up in the Premier Division, securing promotion to the Southern Football League Division One South & West, and also winning the Somerset Premier Cup. Their impressive form continued, leading to promotion to the Southern League Premier Division in their second season, achieved by winning the play-off final. The club has since maintained its presence in the Southern Football League Premier Division. In the 2023–24 season, Frome Town achieved their furthest ever progression in the FA Trophy, reaching the third round.
